Welcome Address by Minister Chan Chun Sing at Work Plan Seminar 2024

Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Education, delivered a welcome address at MOE Work Plan Seminar 2024, which was attended by over 1,700 educators and school leaders. In his speech, Minister thanked educators for their good work, noting that students continued to demonstrate strong fundamentals even with disruptions from the pandemic. Minister highlighted the role that educators play in nurturing our future generations in a troubled world and encouraged educators to adopt new mindsets towards work. He announced measures to create more capacity for educators to upskill, such as in initiatives to streamline work and administrative duties, and to introduce more porosity for teachers to explore attachments. He also stressed the importance of setting clear boundaries around educators' roles, establishing baseline expectations for communication between teachers and parents. Additionally, he underscored the significance of leveraging collective capabilities through partnerships to support the holistic development of students.
