जीवन और लक्ष्य एक समान होते हैं। दोनों को ही अपनी सोच के अनुसार बड़ा किया जा सकता है। जितना बड़ा आप सोच सकते हैं, उससे भी बड़ा आप बना सकते हैं क्योंकि असंभव सिर्फ एक सोच है। अधिकतर लोग अपने लक्ष्य या सपनों को साधारण समझते हैं। सफलता अपने सपनों पर विश्वास करने का परिणाम होती है।
जिस प्रकार रबर को बढ़ाया जा सकता है, उसी प्रकार अपने विचारों को बड़ा किया जा सकता है, लक्ष्य को बड़ा किया जा सकता है, सपनों को बड़ा किया जा सकता है, और अपने आत्मविश्वास को असीमित दायरे तक बढ़ाया जा सकता है। भविष्य रबड़ बैंड की तरह होता है। शुरुआत में भविष्य एक काल्पनिक लक्ष्य होता है। अपने काल्पनिक लक्ष्य को आकार देने के लिए संघर्ष करना होता है।
वर्तमान से भविष्य की दूरी अधिक नहीं होती है, लेकिन अधिकतर लोग इसे तय नहीं कर पाते हैं। वर्तमान से भविष्य के बीच में संघर्ष से भरा हुआ सागर पार करना पड़ता है, जिसे अधिकतर लोग पार करने से पहले ही हार मान लेते हैं। अधिकतर लोग ज्ञान के अभाव में हार जाते हैं। फिर भी वे ज्ञान प्राप्त करने के लिए किताबों का सहारा नहीं लेना चाहते क्योंकि किताबें पढ़ने में मनोरंजक नहीं होती हैं।
