#13: Bestway CoolerZ Tropical Breeze Floating Island Raft – full detailed review from unboxing and use through teardown. Published June 16, 2020.
In this video, we unbox the Bestway CoolerZ Tropical Breeze Floating Island Raft that we purchased from Amazon, giving step-by-step instructions for setup and tear down. Inflation took around 45 minutes using a 12V inflator and the Jump-N-Carry JNC660. (That JNC660 was later used to jump a neighboring camper’s dead car battery. It’s a great thing to have on hand.)
We also show and review the sand anchor, which was disappointing. I think it was too small for a raft this large. 2 or 3 of these anchors would be recommended if using the raft on a body of water such as a lake. Or, I would recommend attaching it using the Anchor buddy, a lake bed anchor, and a mooring buoy as listed in the affiliate links. We were camping at the Army Corps of Engineering Shenango Reservoir Campground, near Hermitage/Sharon, Pennsylvania.
The raft is large and a lot of fun. It includes a canopy for shade and a cooler for snacks. It did lose some air during the week, but held up well through a strong wind-storm one evening. We attached it to our mooring system (Anchor-buddy with lake bed anchor and mooring buoy) and it stayed in place during the storm.
The island was heavy, but easy to move on the water. Tear down was simple, thanks to the Boston valves. But fitting the tube back into the original packaging was impossible. We will likely buy a Rubbermaid or Sterilite storage bin to store the raft and its components.
Overall, we really enjoyed this large raft/tube, which offered relaxation, shade, a fun hangout, and refreshing relief from the sun. We would recommend it.
