It wasn’t long ago that Genesis Australia arrived with just two sedan models and now it offers five, including three SUVs – one a dedicated EV and the other two available with battery-electric powertrains.

The third Genesis EV to become available Down Under is the 2022 Genesis Electrified GV70, a mid-size luxury SUV aimed directly at electric rivals like the BMW iX3 and Mercedes-Benz EQC.

The battery-electric version of the impressive Genesis GV70 joins four other petrol and diesel variants in the model range and, while it commands a hefty price premium, the oddly-named Electrified variant brings a barrage of standard technology, safety and creature comforts.

On paper, the GV70 EV also packs strong performance credentials, but how does that translate in the real world?
