How to test a Toyota ignition igniter #1421

Here's an extract from the long video covering the Toyota MR2 ignition system testing. I felt a video just covering the Igniter testing would be helpful as this is a component that Toyota say can't be tested....

So, using nothing more than a continuity tester, a 12v car battery, 3 AA batteries (5v DC supply) and a few wires, you can check to see if your igniter is switching the coil primary or not....

In this video I go a little further & we get to look at the switching using an oscilloscope and one of my logic probes too.
