This is Willie Nelson's 1980 cover of "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys". It was written by Sharon Vaughn and originally recorded by Waylon Jennings in 1976. Willie's version was released on the soundtrack of "The Electric Horseman" (a really awful movie) and the song went to #1 on the country charts.
