I went to see the camel market in Birqash, just outside Cairo. It is an amazing cultural experience and great for those who prefer to experience something off the tourist trail. Camels are brought up from countries to the south and are auctioned for their meat as they have done for hundreds, if not thousands of years.
It was a bit of a sensory overload. Camels running everywhere, men shouting, cars beeping. Certainly not for the fainthearted.
