Investment Landscape in Emerging Markets (Guests: Anissa Kanoun and Misbah Naqvi)

Paklaunch hosted a webinar with Anissa Kanoun, IFC - International Finance Corporation and Misbah Naqvi Co-Founder i2i Ventures, to discuss the VC investment landscape in emerging markets on Sunday, 25th August, 2024 Anissa Kanoun leads IFC - International Finance Corporation's VC activities, including the investments into the growth stage startups and the VC funds, in the MENAP region. IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector in developing countries. It offers an array of debt and equity financing services and helps companies face their risk exposures while refraining from participating in a management capacity. The corporation offers advice to companies on making decisions, evaluating their impact on the environment and society, and being responsible. It also advises governments on building the infrastructure and partnerships to further support private sector development. In fiscal year 2023, IFC committed a record $43.7B to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries, leveraging the power of the private sector to improve people's lives as economies grapple with the impacts of global compounding crises. Prior to IFC, Anissa worked in Emerging Market Private Equity at Emerging Capital Partners - ECP, in Venture Lab at Action, and in Impact Investing at Developing World Markets. She has also served at Goldman Sachs in Public Sector and Infrastructure Banking. Anissa has an MBA degree from The Wharton School and a BA degree in Science and Technology from Stanford University. Misbah Naqvi is General Partner and Co-Founder at i2i Ventures, an early stage venture capital fund focusing on tech-enabled high-growth startups in Pakistan. i2i Ventures has invested in 15 companies in Pakistan since 2019.
