Synopsis: Bangladesh has one of the worst records for women's human rights, yet there are those who are fighting the injustice. One such individual is Taslima Nasreen: a feminist, author and journalist, who writes a weekly newspaper column on women's issues in Bangladesh and has published several bestselling books. Yet Taslima is unable live a normal life; intense hatred from religious groups and inadequate government action has forced her to live a life of seclusion, residing in a guarded compound and rarely leaving her house. Talking not only to Taslima herself, but to young women, women's groups and powerful female politicians, including Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, ABC Australia paints a picture of the everyday life of women in Bangladesh.
