Season Collapses are not uncommon in NASCAR, through the decades many drivers have fallen off at the end of a season and in 2023 we saw a big one with Martin Truex, Jr.  Trues was one of the heavy favorites for the championship heading into the 2023 NASCAR Playoffs.
