SPILSBY LINCOLNSHIRE

A tour of SPILSBY LINCOLNSHIRE. We head to the town of Spilsby in Lincolnshire,  close to Lincoln, Boston and Skegness for a walking tour. Spilsby acts as a hub for the villages around it and so has a town centre full of shops and businesses and historic buildings that we can have a look at.

Spilsby is one of Lincolnshire's smaller market towns, nevertheless, there is still so much to see and do in and around Spilsby. Wander the stone streets which have been very well preserved from the beginning of the 19th century.

Spilsby is a rural market town full of character and charm, offering the best of both worlds – a thriving town centre with many local, independent businesses combined with beautiful countryside and surrounding picturesque villages. Spilsby has been a market town for over 700 years and enjoys a rich historic past.

Spilsby is also famed for being the birthplace of the renowned Arctic explorer, Sir John Franklin, who served under Admiral Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar and from 1834-1845 he was Governor of Tasmania. He is remembered most for his attempts to find the Northwest Passage linking the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans.
