I'm using a Dewalt DW840. I'm a programmer, not a tradesman, so this was my first time trying to get the wheel off. Hope this helps many out there, because this is a common problem.
To remove the wheel, when the tool is turned over with spindle lock button facing the floor, you turn counter clockwise.
