Thane, Airoli naka to be toll free for small vehicles: Eknath Shinde

Hours after Nationalist Congress Party threatened a stir at the toll naka of Thane, minister Eknath Shinde announced that toll would not be charged from small vehicles for a month at the Thane and Airoli toll naka. All the toll nakas are owned by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation.
Since the Mumbai bypass road is shut for massive repairs, there is tremendous traffic on the Eastern Express Highway and the wait at the naka is long. A lot of time gets wasted at the toll nakas and in the evenings, there is a 2 km-long queue.
