Product Review: Ugly Stik GX2 - 4 piece travel rod

#review #uglystik #travel #shakespeare I don't enjoy watching product placements in videos most of the time. This one I purchased however had me excited enough to test out and film. Earlier this year I unfortunately snapped my medium power 4 pc. travel rod. I needed to replace it. I figured I would stay away from graphite only construction for something more durable. To be honest I really need a travel rod that fits into my luggage, has decent power and backbone for larger fish and give me confidence that I can fish hard without the worry of it breaking for no apparent reason. I thought a quick fishing session while on a family vacation would be the perfect time to test it out. Our car was packed to the roof so there was little room for fishing gear. This is a fine example of a time for a compact travel set up. Other scenarios would be fitting into your check in luggage while flying or just keeping it in your vehicle for those impromptu fishing days. Overall I was impressed with it. My biggest problem with travel rods is they often are whippy, light power and fast action. That is fine for perch and sunfish but sometimes you would like to tackle a 3 pound, 5 pound, 10 pound fish, etcetera. This rod proved to have plenty of strength to handle what I caught this day. The largest fish being a 4 pound or so redhorse I catch after filming the outro. I will be taking this rod on longer trips when space is a consideration.
