This video is part of the second section in the edX course from "Brain to Symptom – introduction to neuroscientific psychiatry" by psychiatrist and course director Christoffer Rahm, and Karolina Sörman, Head of unit Continuing Education Center for Psychiatry Research, researcher in clinical neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet and assistant course director.

In this video you will meet Tom. He is a 40-year-old architect who is struggling a lot in his daily life due to compulsive behaviors. His work duties take an unbalanced amount of time, for example he checks each email he sends for spacing and punctuation. He also gets stuck on rechecking things and counting numbers in a multiple of three, so now he's turning to psychiatry to get a better understanding of his condition and also to get some help. Tom is aware that he has some impairments, but he finds it difficult to change his behavior. When listening to his story, try and think of what cognitive functions are affected in his condition.
