We are moving our workshop
We are moving our workshop around to make way for a new to us 7.3 metre (24 ft) big heavy duty lathe! So you will get to see a bit of our workshop setup, the lathe arriving and the unloading. We had been waiting a few months for this machine and finally time arrived for us to get and unload the lathe, but first we had to make space for it in the workshop. We had to take down the wall between our machining and welding bays, move all the lathes, machines and tool benches just to make a space big enough. The day the lathe arrived, the franna crane we had booked for unloading the lathe cancelled on us and we had to quickly come up with a Plan B to get the lathe safely unloaded off the truck! The lathe is a 7.3 metre long (24 ft), and 9.5 tonne heavy duty Shenyang No 1 CW6280B lathe with 800mm swing and 5500mm between centres. It came fully equipped with 630mm 4 jaw chuck, face plate, steady rests, boring bars and machine tooling. We were able to use our yard crane and a customers excavator to safely unload the big lathe off the truck.
