Yeah, grids are an optional
Yeah, grids are an optional rule in D&D 5e, but I think those of us who use Foundry VTT, Roll20 or other VTTs feel like we need to make maps for every encounter. And I mean, while mapmaking is definitely fun, it can also take up that sweet sweet prep time that DM's already don't have enough of.
So here are several reasons for you (and future me) not to make a map for your next D&D campaign session, even if you are using a VTT.
