From the window of his "Maui Fresh Streatery" food truck, Chef Kyle Kawakami serves up a fresh plate made with local ingredients and plenty of heart. For over a decade, Kyle has brought the island of Maui together through food whether it’s by sharing his award-winning cuisine, sourcing his ingredients locally, or tirelessly and significantly giving back to the community he loves.

Born and raised in Upcountry Maui, Kyle envisioned Maui Fresh Streatery as a community-based gathering place with a mom-and-pop feel. He sources the freshest ingredients from Maui farmers, fishermen, and ranchers to bring money full circle back to his community. With no set menu, Kyle cherishes what's in season from his partners, from fresh eggplant from Kumu Farms to fresh caught kampachi from Tropic Fish Maui.

For Kyle, mālama (caring) for your community is in the actions you do every day. Maui Fresh Streatery's "Aloha Tip Jar" has raised over a million dollars for families and organizations in need. He continues to work with partners like the Maui Food Bank and Maui Rapid Response to pay it forward and go beyond serving great food.
