I just found this performance on a CD from Pancho’s in Manhattan Beach back in 2006. James Clay Garrison and I would duel for a bit before fusionizing Bill Withers’ “Use Me.”  Jim Wheeler is on sax/EWI and Al Kim on bass here. I miss these nights. I was already living in Austin by this time and had borrowed drums from my pal, Pete Miller. These were no pressure, have a bunch of drinks, hang out with your friends, kind of evenings. Music police not allowed here—we could do whatever we wanted and we wanted to have fun. We could play as long and as loud and stylize things how we felt it in the moment. So have a margarita or 3 drinks of your choice and join us in that spirit— warts and all, hits and misses. It was just FUN! It’s 11 minutes. So really… get the drinks.
