Millie Batch describes her struggles and successes with her school experience. What began as emotional based school avoidance (EBSA), with the right support in place, turned into Millie being able to not only access her education but also thrive and go onto greater opportunities. Her success story is one that can give hope to other people by highlighting the importance of getting the right, bespoke support that every autistic individual needs.

EBSA is something that needs to be taken very seriously and not dismissed as it has been done in the past and it is still happening today. It can not only impact a persons ability to access their education but more seriously it has an impact on their health and wellbeing. More awareness and training is desperately needed for education professionals so they can support autistic young people in the way that they need to be able to do their best at school to set them up for fulfilling life beyond school.
