Istanbul Airport is the leading international airport serving Istanbul, Turkey, located in the Çatalca- Göktürk-Arnavutköy area on the European side of the city, 52km from Kadıköy and 40km from Taksim. It's a new airport in the city and is recognized as an outstanding achievement by the Turkish Government. The new aviation hub is expected to host more than 200 million passengers by 2025, adding to the two existing airports in Istanbul (Ataturk Airport and Sabiha Gokcen International Airport). It serves over 350 domestic and international destinations in 110 countries and has one of the largest duty-free areas in the world (if not the largest). Its unparalleled services, facilities, and cutting-edge technology are used throughout the environmentally-friendly airport. Overall, Istanbul Airport has become a significant transportation hub connecting three continents, Europe, Asia, and Africa, and will continue to develop into an even more significant aviation center as time goes on, despite still being under construction until 04/06/19. Currently, only one main terminal is operational, but three more, possibly smaller terminals, will be added to the airport complex in the long term. Over 40 million passengers have been served by new Istanbul Airport over the past year. In its final phase, approximately by 2025, the airport will be able to serve up to 200 million passengers annually, becoming the biggest airport worldwide in terms of passenger traffic.
