7 great things to do in Astoria Oregon!
While on a spontaneous trip to Astoria with my best friend Stephanie & her family I decided I would share with you 7 of my favorite spots to explore and experience. Plus a bonus adventure just 30 minutes away on Cape Disappointment!
04:53 - #1 The Astoria Column
The Column is a unique work of art, dedicated by the Northwest Railway in 1926. With some of the most amazing views of Astoria, the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean
6:33 - #2 The Oregon Film Museum
Housed in the old Clatsop County Jail, this film museum is set to celebrate the movies made in Oregon. Fun fact: also where the opening chase scene in “The Goonies” was filmed
7:58 - #3 Flavel House
Take a step back into the 1900’s and visit this beautiful victorian mansion
8:20 Shopping Downtown
8:43 - #4 The BEST fish & chips at The Bowpicker
Highly recommended by the locals & those who frequent Astoria. And also pulling 5 stars on all of the online platforms.. this was the best little place to stop for lunch!
10:55 - BONUS: Northhead Trail on Cape Disappointment
We take a short drive over to Cape Disappointment just across the bridge from Astoria. And take a walk down the Northhead trail all the way to the viewpoint on McKenzie Lagoon. Amazing views & great way to spend the late afternoon! (If you do this, make sure you get back to the trail head in time to catch sunset at the Northhead lighthouse.)
17:44 - #5 Cathedral Tree
A massive 300 year old Sitka Spruce was definitely worth the short easy walk to visit it
18:37 - #6 Columbia River Maritime Museum
This museum is home to the largest collection of maritime artifacts in the Pacific Northwest
20:00 - #7 Youngs River Falls
A very unique waterfall only 15 minutes outside of Astoria. With its base set at only 10 feet above sea level, and making an appearance in several bad movies (Free Willy 2 & Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3) it was definitely worth the easy little walk to take a look!
