This video shows the busiest container ports of the world by container handling and how the top 20 container ports have changed over the time period, 2004 to 2018.

The rankings were done in terms of the total number of actual twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) transported through the port.

Up until 2009, the busiest port was Singapore port. From there onwards, Shanghai port had become the busiest port in the world.

According to the year 2018 stats, 8 out of the top 20 ports are in China. Moreover, 14 out of top 20 container ports are in the Asian region.
