Scott recently used the water
Scott recently used the water trailer to make sure the mud wallows were extra muddy. As expected, all the elephants in that yard showed up to get silly and spend time in the water stream.
Lady was nearby when Scott began, and she quickly walked over to the trailer, with her trunk up and mouth open. She didn’t just want to play in the water stream; she wanted it in her mouth. It’s a very high volume flow, but it isn’t very much pressure. As is evident in the video – the elephants find the amount of water pressure delightful.
Mara and Rana showed up after a few minutes. Mara walked directly over to the fence while Rana stopped by the mud wallow to inspect the mud. As they approached, Lady walked about twenty meters away, where she watched Mara & Rana’s antics.
This video is longer than what we usually post. For those who like to skip around videos - the first minute and a half is Lady, the middle section is Mara and Rana having fun, and the last minute is close up footage.
After the water trailer was emptied and returned to the barn, Scott fed everyone dinner. As he was giving Rana and Mara their food, Lady began approaching them. She ate her dinner somewhat near the other two. Once Mara & Rana finished their meal, they walked a little bit closer to Lady, and they all stayed near each other for a while. Even with the excitement and silliness of Rana and Mara, which can sometimes make Lady more nervous, she did well. Lady walked away, but not with a high level of anxiety or fear. It seemed she just wanted to remove herself a little. It’s an incredible step that she wanted to continue spending time near them so soon after the excitement with the water trailer.
