1) An EDI 850 Purchase Order is received and accepted by a seller
2) An EDI 855 Purchase Order Acknowledgment is sent to the trading partner to confirm EDI 850 was received from the seller
3) An EDI 856 Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) is generated and sent by the seller describing the contents of each shipment.
4) An EDI 810 Invoice is created and sent to the trading partner
EDI Order Processing Automation is the process of making these above steps run in an automatic manner vs hand keying the information one by one which can be cumbersome and time consuming. The whole idea of EDI being an efficient business strategy is lost.
