The unearthly landscape of the tract seems to have been created for the filming of Hollywood fantasy films. You can also shoot westerns here, since the landscape is very similar to Monument Valley in the USA.
The tract was once the bottom of the Tethys Ocean, which in ancient times divided the supercontinent Pangea into two parts - Gondwana and Laurasia. Presumably, more than 5 million years ago, Tethys finally dried out. Ocean relics are the Caspian, Mediterranean and Black Seas.
The current appearance of the tract is the consequences of natural disasters. According to scientists, for some time the tract was a steppe, where ancient horses and saber-toothed tigers lived, and the remains of leopards and cheetahs were also found.
“Bozzhira” is translated into Russian as “faded valley” or “gray land”. The colors here really seem to be muted, since the rocks are formed from sedimentary rocks and chalk. In ancient times there were much more remnant mountains than at present. The Ustyurt plateau on Bozzhir turns into chinki, that is, steep and inaccessible cliffs of great height.
On the territory of Bozzhira you can find various fossils of mollusks, imprints of algae on stones and even the teeth of ancient sharks.
