google pixel 6a and google pixel 5 have a dual-camera system on the back, consisting of a 12.2MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide-angle camera in pixel 6a while 16MP in pixel 5 . They both have an 8MP front-facing camera, today's video is a complete camera comparison between google 6a and pixel 5. We will discuss following topics in details.
Daytime photography:
In good lighting conditions, both phones take excellent photos. Pixel 5 has a slight edge in terms of color accuracy, but both phones produce sharp, detailed images with good dynamic range.
Portrait mode:
Both pixel 6a 5g and pixel 5 have portrait mode, which blurs the background of a photo to focus on the subject. Pixel 5's portrait mode is slightly more natural-looking, with smoother edges and less blur, while pixel 6a produce more saturated portrait photos with more dramatic background blur.
Extreme HDR:
Under Extreme HDR conditions Pixel 6a capture more contrasting colours while pixel 5 produce muted tones with excellent exposure control . It works by taking multiple photos at different exposures and then blending them together to create a single image with more dynamic range.
Extreme HDR portrait:
Google 6a capture more saturated photos with more background blur altogether HDR performance is excellent, while on the other hand google pixel 5 camera captures excellent photos with balanced colours and natural looking background blur.
Lowlight photography:
In low light, pixel 6a and pixel 5 Night Sight mode uses computational photography to take sharp, well-exposed photos in even the darkest conditions. The Pixel 5's Night Sight mode is still good, but it doesn't produce as good results as the Pixel 6a.
Night sight portrait mode:
Night sight portrait mode is available on both phones. Pixel 5's portrait photos are more sharp looking with more noise , while pixel 6a's pictures are soft looking with less noise due to noise reduction algorithms.
Videography:
Both phones can record 4K video at 60fps with main cameras. Both phones also supports 1080p video at 60fps. We tested video quality at 1080p 60fps both 6a and pixel 5 produce good video quality with good stabilization, pixel 5 produce more saturated colours while pixel 6a produce bit muted colours with more smooth framing and better HDR in video.
Results:
Overall, google pixel 6a 5g and pixel 5 have excellent cameras. Both phones take stunning pictures in variety of lighting conditions. After comparing countless pictures and videos I have come to the decision that both phones are good in their own ways. If you guys are switching from pixel 5 to pixel 6a you will not get much difference as both phones basically share same camera hardware.
