How to Care for Your Rabbits Pt1 | Housing | Rabbit Hutch | Rabbit Enclosure | Rabbit Space | Pets

We are now starting a new series on our socials, which is all about how to care for your rabbits. We will be sharing videos on diet, litter training, companionship and many more.

Our first video is all about housing. Did you know both indoor and outdoor rabbits need a living area of at least 3m x 2m x 1m high? This is important as it will allow your rabbit to run, hop, jump and stretch.

Some indoor rabbits may be lucky enough to have their own room, or a whole bun-proofed house to run around, but you can easily section off part of a room using a playpen or C&C grids to give your rabbits their own space.

For outdoor rabbits, a hutch alone isn't enough and they would need a permanent secure run attached so they have the space that they need. Some more practical options for outdoor rabbits include a secure and weatherproof enclosure or even a converted shed.

For both indoor and outdoor rabbits, adding a litter box next to their hay will help encourage good litter box habits, in a future video in our series we will be sharing again some tips on how you can litter train your rabbits too.

Fresh water must be provided at all times, preferably from a bowl over a bottle, as it's a more natural way for them to drink.

Your rabbits will also need lots of hiding places where they feel safe and secure, so they can run and hide if they spot any predators, or if they just want some peace and quiet away from everyone.

Enrichment activities are also important as they will help promote natural behaviours and prevent boredom.
