Veil Of White Lace / Mel Tillis 1970

This tune was written by Damon Black, a Farmer from Bonne Terre Missouri, that became a  well known songwriter in Nashville, as did his Sister, Sharon Higgins.. The amount of songs he wrote for Mel Tillis, Porter Wagoner, & The Wilburn Brothers among others is considerable.. Mel was the first to record this piece, and this is the original recording of it.. Mel himself while still a child, developed a speech impediment from a bout of Malaria, yet never allowed that to get in the way of his  being successful..  Largely to his own credit, he went on to became one of the biggest names in Country Music. A very sad story this song is yet powerful in its telling.. Others have recorded this over the years, but there's something about an original that can not be duplicated, not even by the same singer.. In this case folks there is a very close second that I wouldn't wish to measure the difference of, and that is Vernon Oxford singing this as well.. Thank you Friends !!!
