Dr. Clevens: Let's talk a little bit about a procedure known as "Incisionless Otoplasty." Otoplasty, as you may know, is the plastic surgical procedure that is performed for prominent or misshapen ears. Some patients will be a candidate for a procedure known as an "incisionless Otoplasty." Traditional Otoplasty is performed with an incision created on the back surface of the ear, and the ear cartilages are modified, so as to address the prominent or protruding ear.
Some patients may be a candidate for incisionless Otoplasty, where there is no scar created, no stitches, no incision. Instead, sutures are carefully placed under local anesthesia, through the curvature of the ear, to allow us to very carefully reshape the ear.
