In this video we're comparing
In this video we're comparing the Kemper and the Quad Cortex against a real amp.
These comparisons have been done a lot, so in this one we wanted to specifically see how the Kemper and Quad Cortex handle effects (namely overdrive, Fuzz, and delay/reverb) compared to the amp.

Here is how we set up the experiment:
1. We mic'd up the amp/cab with a Royer 121 and Earthworks SR25 into a stereo Neve 1073 preamp. We applied EQ on the preamp, and summed the mic'd signal to mono.
2. We captured (Quad Cortex) and profiled (Kemper) the amp using the exact same settings. For the capture and profile, we both noted that it was nearly impossible to hear the difference between the amp and the capture/profile.
3. We left everything set exactly as we captured/profiled, and used an RJM Effects Gizmo to sound our guitar signal to all three devices at the same time - the amp, the QC, and the Kemper.
4. We then did a bunch of playing samples - both straight in without effects - and with a pedalboard.
This is as scientific as we could make it, and we think this video does a great job showcasing just how similar (and in some cases how different) the Quad Cortex, Kemper, and the real amp sound.
GEAR DETAILS:
Amp: Tyler HM30
Cabinet: Tyler 10-12 cab
Mics used: Royer 121 and Earthworks SR25
Preamp used: Never 1073DPX (stereo)
