The Triple Bottom Line (TBL) is a sustainability framework that considers three interconnected aspects of business performance: economic, social, and environmental. It was first introduced by John Elkington in 1994 as a way to measure the sustainability and social responsibility of a business.

The three bottom lines of the TBL are:

Economic: This bottom line measures the financial performance of a business, including profits, revenues, and costs. It aims to ensure that a business is financially sustainable and profitable over the long term.
Social: This bottom line measures the social impact of a business, including its contributions to the community, the well-being of employees, and the quality of relationships with stakeholders. It aims to ensure that a business is socially responsible and contributes positively to society.
Environmental: This bottom line measures the environmental impact of a business, including its use of natural resources, energy consumption, waste generation, and pollution. It aims to ensure that a business is environmentally sustainable and minimizes its negative impact on the environment.
The TBL framework recognizes that business success is not only measured by financial performance but also by its impact on society and the environment. It encourages businesses to consider their social and environmental responsibility in addition to their financial goals, and to take a holistic approach to sustainability.

By adopting the TBL framework, businesses can identify opportunities to improve their sustainability performance, mitigate risk, and enhance their reputation with stakeholders.
