Interracial Teenagers Dancing on Alan Freed's Big Beat TV Show 1959. This is the local 1959 version of Alan Freed's "Big Beat" on Channel 5, WNEW New York.
Earlier, in 1957 Freed had a national version of the teen dance show on WABC also called the "Big Beat" but that show was cancelled when ABC's affiliates in the south were offended when Frankie Lymon was shown dancing with a white girl. That version of the "Big Beat" ran only three episodes. (ABC should have told the southern affiliates to shove it!)
Song is: Marv Johnson, "I'm Coming Home" on United Artists records, written by Berry Gordy Jr. 1959.
