Reymund Hightower (Lautner), is a young man dedicated to raising his younger brother (Nicos Christou) after his mother, Lola (Constance Zimmer), is convicted on drug charges and sentenced to prison. After six years away, Lola returns and sets about trying to rebuild her family. That plan, though, is upended by Reymund, who — still bitter about his mom’s abandonment and determined to remain the primary role model in his sibling’s life — kidnaps his brother and sets off on a trek to the California coast, with both Lola and her ex-husband (Kenny Johnson) in pursuit.
