How to find my PAINTING STYLE

Probably the most common topic of conversation I've seen amongst students and artists is around developing a style, finding your style; but what does this actual mean, and how do we do it! Painting, whilst wonderful fun and incredibly rewarding can also be frustrating and disheartening. Why are so many of us frustrated by painting, usually it appears that is we do not like our style. On closer inspection though it is actually that the outcome of our paintings is a long way from the vision we have for our work. Once we understand this we are better equipped to work out how to develop out painting and move forward in a way that satisfies us. Whilst so much of art is subjective and often hard to pin down, we can actually use a simple process of analysing our paintings to quickly move forward a develop paintings that are closer to, or more in alignment with our artistic vision.
