"Delta Dawn" was a massive international hit for Helen Reddy.  Telling the sad story of a young girl who fell for the lies of a dark-haired man of "low degree", it made #1 in Australia, Canada and the USA - and #5 in New Zealand.  Amazingly, it didn't chart in Britain.  Nevertheless, it is now one of her best-known songs in the UK.
