The city of Durres was an important trade route from Rome Italy to Constantinople Turkey, passing through the port city of Durres.
This amphitheater was built in the second century A.D. in the period of the Emperor Hadrian.It was abandoned in the 7th century A.D., one of the galleries was converted into a chapel and the arena was converted into a cemetery. The Amphitheater was discovered in the year 1966, at this time, only half of the amphitheater has been uncovered. Check it out!
