The Flying Dutchman was Davy
The Flying Dutchman was Davy Jones' mythical ship that Disney rescued for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. A ghost ship with a cursed crew that could only set foot on land once every hundred years.
Making a model of the Flying Dutchman in wood is a real challenge because of the amount of imperfections and defects that must be achieved in the ship. I have decided to base it on the artwork of the movie Pirates of the Caribbean Salazar's Revenge. I am looking for a ghost pirate ship, broken, rickety, sunk for centuries under the waters but menacing and powerful at the same time.
This model of the Flying Dutchman is built from plans using wood and FIMO paste to get the extravagant shapes of the ship.
The plans can be downloaded from the Naval Modeling for All web site.
