يعتبر الاكراد اليوم من اكبر الاقليات في الشرق الادنى. وتبلغ اعدادهم بالملايين منتشرين بشكل رئيسي في غرب ايران وجنوب شرق تركيا وشمال العراق.
لاكن اي باحث في التاريخ سيلاحظ بأن الاكراد لا يعتبرون سكان اصليين في هذه المناطق التي يعيشون فيها حاليا. وتاريخ هجرات القبائل الكردية نحو هذه المناطق موثقة في بعض المصادر حيث بدأت بين نهاية فترة الامبراطورية العباسية وبداية الامبراطورية العثمانية.
Today, the Kurds are considered one of the largest minorities in the Near East. Their numbers are in the millions, spread mainly in western Iran, south-eastern Turkey and northern Iraq.
But any researcher in history will notice that the Kurds are not considered an indigenous population in these areas in which they currently live.
The history of the migrations of the Kurdish tribes towards these areas is documented in some sources, as it began between the end of the Abbasid Empire and the beginning of the Ottoman Empire.
