(subtitles) I will tell you about a wonderful Danish painter of the nineteenth century. Peder Mork Monsted is a representative of the late "Golden Age" of Danish painting.
This period is similar to the Romantic Movement in Germany. Romanticism in art reaches its peak in the first half of the nineteenth century.  At this time, landscape painting comes to the fore. Landscape and seascape became the most popular genres of art during this period.

Peder Monsted is becoming the leading Danish landscape painter of his time. He is renowned for his realistic and vibrant drawing style. The artist paints landscapes, portraits and genre scenes.
Monsted is considered one of the brightest representatives of the art world of his era. His canvases of beautiful, realistic landscapes made him the leading Danish painter of his time. I will show you the most characteristic and most striking of his works.

Peder was the son of Otto Christian Monsted, a successful shipbuilder, and Thora Johanne Petrea Jorgensen. He was born in Balle near Greno in eastern Denmark. Peder studied at the drawing school of Crown Prince Ferdinand’s in Aarhus.
The young man's mentor was the Danish landscape and portrait painter Andries Fritz, court painter of Prince Ferdinand of Aarhus. After graduating from the drawing school in 1875, Monsted moved to Copenhagen. There He entered an art course for three years at the Royal Academy of Art.
In 1878, Monsted left the Academy to study at the school of Peder Severin Kroyer. In this school, Peder's drawing style is further developed. Then the young man moved to Paris, where he studied in the workshop of one of the most popular painters of that time, William Adolphe Bougureau.

In the following years, the artist traveled extensively in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
In 1882, he visits Rome and the island of Capri. His works of that time are filled with the beauty and brightness of the colors of the Mediterranean landscape.
During his travels, Peder Monsted has visited many countries in the Mediterranean region and painted many paintings. In Greece, he was a guest of the royal family for a year and painted their portraits. King George the First of Greece was Dane by nationality.
Monsted's work can hardly be attributed to academic landscape painting. French Impressionism heavily influenced his work. The artist paints what he sees, especially often fields, forests, rural houses and courtyards. His landscapes are conducive to long contemplation.

However, the master of the brush did not just repeat the finds of other masters of painting and their style. Monsted created his own realistic art style that brought him great recognition and wealth.
The artist specializes in depicting sunlight between the tops of trees and between the trunks and branches of the undergrowth. His attention is attracted by the reflections in the water of the forest, clouds and blue bright sky. Monsted painted many paintings of winter landscapes with snow covered fields and roads.
Its winter landscapes are often filled with the feeling of close spring and its warmth. It seems that from his paintings it smells like spring. In addition, we even feel how the snow begins to melt under the bright sunlight. Snow shines in Peder Monsted's paintings in different shades  it is pink and blue and white.
Monsted includes figures of people and animals in his paintings. In the artist's paintings, painted in a style close to impressionism, these figures are mainly used as background elements to emphasize the idyllic nature of the motif. However, in the artist's rustic genre paintings, these characters are of great importance.delight in the diversity of nature and admiration for its eternal beauty.
ood example of this is his painting "Landscape by the Stream."
His canvases reveal a romantic, poetic picture of nature. Monsted was an artist who captured the grandeur and monumentality of a landscape with remarkable attention to detail and color.
