#Fastag #Expressway #Ride We all have travelled on national or state highways and where we have to go through the toll plazas where cars, bus, truck or every big size vehicle owners have to pay toll tax/charges for using toll road/highway. But have you ever wonder why two wheelers (bikes, scooters or any other two wheeler) don’t need to pay toll taxes while using the same road. In this article, you will get to know the reason behind this. Let’s start with the first and the foremost reason. 1. LOAD OR STRAIN ON THE ROAD First we need to know the reason behind the collection of toll tax. In India, every state or national highway is taxed by Indian government for collecting the cost of construction and for maintaining the roads. Raised money is allocated to different departments for development and maintenance of roads. Size and even weight of two wheeler is relatively very less compared to other vehicles. Moreover we can’t carry any kind of weight stuff in them. So, the pressure, load or strain on the roads due to movement of two wheeler is very less compared to cars or other heavy vehicles. Thus, damage on the road due to two wheeler is significantly very less. Majorly cars, buses, and trucks are responsible for most of the road damage. Different type of vehicle have different amount of toll tax depending on the size and weight of the vehicle. 2. FINANCIAL STATUS OF RIDER Out of the all mode of transport, two wheeler is considered to be poor mode of travel or transport especially in India. Not all two wheeler owners are financially weak but many of them are financially weak compared to four-wheel owners. Even owning a cheaper bike is also a big deal for some of them. That’s why state government or central government don’t charge any toll taxes from two wheelers. 3. COVER ALL THE TOLL ROAD All the four-wheelers or big size vehicles generally used for covering more than 50km of distance. While two-wheelers are rarely used for such a long travel distance. You need to know, all the toll plazas have their particular road length. Some tolls have 50km and some even have 200km of road length. For most of the time cars, buses or other heavy vehicle cover full road length of particular toll plaza but it is very rare that full length of toll is covered by any two wheeler. That’s why, cars have to pay toll taxes/charges and bikes or 2-wheelers don’t need to pay for travelling on the same road. There are many villages within 10-15km of toll plaza and those village people need to cross toll many times a day for their business or for dropping their kids to school or many other reasons. So keeping these things in mind and as two wheeler is also considered as a poor mode of traveling government exempt them from paying tolls in India. 4. SIZE AND SPACE OF TWO-WHEELERS You must have noticed that different type or size of vehicle have different toll fee that’s because of size of vehicle. Now first we need to understand the policy or scheme of an Indian government. According to government policy, vehicle less than 1 PCU (Passenger Car Unit) are exempted for paying toll taxes. Bikes or two wheelers are theoretically equivalent to half of what car is or even less than that. And trucks or buses are 3-3.5 PCUs whereas trailers are 6 PCUs. Toll charges are set according to the PCUs of vehicle. That’s why different vehicle have different toll charges. Two wheeler’s size is also the reason why they don’t have to pay tolls. One thing you need to know is toll charges usually decreases with the time because once the construction cost is recovered toll is collected just to maintain and improve the road which is less as compared to construction cost. However it is totally depend on state or central government. There are few toll plaza in India where two wheelers also need to pay toll charges for travelling but these type of toll centres are very few in India. It’s all upto state government whether they want to apply toll tax on two wheeler or not. 🔶INSTAGRAM- www.instagram.com/aakash_rb/ 🔶KOO- www.kooapp.com/profile/powertrain 🔶Facebook- www.facebook.com/PowerTrainOfficial 🔶Twitter- twitter.com/PowerTrain_YT 🔶Discord- discord.com/invite/zYqWqCvhsT Copyright Related Issue Please Contact [email protected] OR DM on Twitter - twitter.com/PowerTrain_YT DISCLAIMER CLIPS / IMAGES USED IN THE VIDEO ARE -ROYALTY FREE -IN PUBLIC DOMAIN -CREATIVE COMMONS -COMMON OWNERSHIP GIVEN BY GOVERMENT OF INDIA Video is for educational purpose only.
