2019 Maruti Alto 800   The Sensible City Hatchback  Real life Review | Daiwame Cars Coimbatore

Hi friends and welcome to another episode of Daiwame Cars! Today, we'll be taking an in-depth look at the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, one of the most affordable and practical city cars in India. Stick around as we explore its features, fuel efficiency, interiors, and more through this real-life review!

The Alto 800 has a simple yet functional design that's instantly recognizable on our roads. Its compact dimensions make it easy to maneuver through tight city traffic. Up front, we have the signature Maruti grille flanked by halogen headlamps. The side profile is characterized by its tall boy design, which translates to a spacious cabin despite the small footprint. At the rear, you'll find vertical taillamps and a high-mounted stop lamp for improved visibility.

Step inside, and you'll appreciate the roomy cabin that can comfortably seat four adults. The dashboard layout is straightforward, with all the essential controls within easy reach. The dual-tone black and beige interiors give the cabin a pleasant and airy feel. As for features, you get power windows, a basic audio system, and optional extras like central locking and power steering, depending on the variant.

Powering the Alto 800 is a tried-and-tested 796cc three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 48 PS of power and 69 Nm of torque. While it's not a firecracker in terms of performance, the Alto 800 is perfectly capable of handling city driving conditions. The real highlight is its fuel efficiency - Maruti claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 24.7 km/l, which is impressive for a petrol hatchback. In real-world conditions, you can expect around 20 km/l, which is still pretty good!

The Alto's lightweight and compact dimensions make it a breeze to drive within the city limits. The ride quality is quite decent, soaking up most of the potholes and undulations that our roads have to offer. The steering is light and easy to twirl, making tight parking maneuvers a cakewalk. However, it does tend to feel a bit vague at higher speeds.

When it comes to safety, the Alto 800 covers the basics with features like an engine immobilizer, child lock, and front SRS airbags (depending on the variant). However, it misses out on more modern safety tech like ABS and EBD, which are available in its competitors.

The 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is available in three variants - LXI, LXI (O), and VXI, with on-road prices ranging from around ₹4.5 lakhs to ₹4.8 lakhs in Tamil Nadu. If you're looking for an affordable, fuel-efficient, and low-maintenance city car, the Alto 800 makes a strong case for itself. Just keep in mind that it's a bare-bones offering, so you'll have to make some compromises in terms of features and performance.

That's all for our comprehensive review of the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto 800. If you have any other queries or suggestions, feel free to drop them in the comments below. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe to Daiwame Cars for more exciting automotive content. Thanks!
