This lecture recaps the basic implementation of a flash ADC. The need for a global track-and-hold and different ways to subtract the reference voltage from the input is discussed. Following this, techniques to suppress the effect of offset and metastability using a dynamic preamplifier is explained. The lecture concludes with a brief explanation on offset calibration and on using the offset in the comparators to generate the reference voltages needed in a flash ADC.
