Read your own sestamibi scan and know where the parathyroid tumors are and are not, also understand that a negative scan is ok but the experience of the surgeon is very important. We PREFER negative scans. Operations on people with negative scans are usually the easiest. We do the exact same operation for people with positive and negative scans because if you want to cure the patients forever, you MUST examine all four parathyroid glands! If your surgeon emphasizes the scan, then he/she isn't an expert. It isn't about the golf clubs, its about the golfer!
