उत्तर प्रदेश के हाथरस में एक धर्मगुरु के सत्संग में मची भगदड़ में करीब सवा सौ मौतों और हाल ही में नेटफ्लिक्स पर आई फिल्म महाराज के बहाने धर्मगुरुओं की दुनिया और समाज में उनकी भूमिका, उनका रहन-सहन और धर्म की आड़ में फर्जी बाबाओं का व्यभिचार और पाखंड एक बार फिर चर्चा में है।  लेकिन ऐसा क्यों है कि इस तरह की फिल्में आजकल लगातार कट्टरपंथियों के निशाने पर रहती हैं? सिनेमा संवाद में इस बार धार्मिक पाखंड पर चोट करती फिल्मों के माध्यम से सिनेमा की सकारात्मक भूमिका पर बातचीत। चर्चा में शामिल हैं वरिष्ठ फिल्म विश्लेषक प्रोफेसर जवरीमल पारख,  वरिष्ठ फिल्म समीक्षक अजय ब्रह्मात्मज,  पटकथा लेखक सुवीक्षा भगत और फरीद खान। चर्चा का संचालन कर रहे हैं वरिष्ठ पत्रकार अमिताभ श्रीवास्तव।

After the recent stampede in a Godman's satsang in Hathras of Uttar Pradesh causing more than hundred deaths and also the release of a fim Maharaj on Netflix, the issue of fake godmen is again in the news and also a talking point for cinema. Hindi films have used the theme of self-styled godmen in the genre of comedy, action as well as serious socially awakening stories. But recently, such films have faced criticism as well as aggressive opposition, boycott, and attacks by a section of hardliners. Cinema Samvad discusses the theme of the depiction of godmen in Hindi cinema in this episode. The panelists are veteran film scholar Professor Jawarimal Parakh,  Senior film critic Ajay Bramhatmaj, script writers Fareed Khan ans Sweksha Bhagat The discussion is moderated by senior journalist Amitaabh Srivastava.
