Chinese Prepositions play a vital role in Chinese grammar. They are used to link nouns, pronouns, verbs, or numeral words to other words within a sentence.Therefore, it is important to master the usage of prepositions if you're learning Mandarin Chinese.
In today's Chinese lesson, we will learn 22 commonly used Chinese prepositions of time, place, direction, etc.
1. 从：from (time, place, or a point of view)
2. 在：at/in/on (a place or time)
3. 往：towards/to (directions)
4. 向：to/towards (a direction, a person, an object), used with most verbs
5. 当: when, just at (a time or place), usually used with ……的时候
6. 为: in the interest of /for the purpose of/for
7. 为了：for/for the sake of/in order to
8. 对：to, for, used to say which thing or person your statement or question is related to
9. 把：make the following noun as a direct object and put it before the verb
10. 跟：with
11. 给: for/ to (a person), indicate an action for someone
12. 关于: about/regarding, used before a noun, expressing “about”
13. 除了: except
14. 除 besides, in addition to
15. 被：by, indicate passive voice
16. 让：by, indicate passive voice
17. 比: than
18. 和: with
19. 通过: through/by means of
20. 按: according to /on the basis of
21. 按照: according to
