Kentucky defeated Illinois 54-51 in the 1984 Mideast Regional Final at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY to reach the Final Four.

Kentucky was led by Sam Bowie (11 pts, 14 reb), Mel Turpin (13 pts) and also had a host of other talent like Kenny Walker, Jim Master and Winston Bennett.

Illinois was led by Quinn Richardson with 16 pts.
