President of Laos Holds Welcome Ceremony for Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping

General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachit on Monday gave visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping a warm welcome outside the Presidential Palace of Laos in the country's capital Vientiane.

Ahead of Xi's welcome ceremony, over 1,000 local residents from different ethnic groups packed the streets around the presidential palace, performing folk music and dance to cheer Xi's arrival.

The two heads of state reviewed the honor guard and greeted the officials on each other's side during the ceremony.

Vientiane is the final leg of Xi's first overseas trip after the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) National Congress, which was held last month.

Prior to his visit to Laos, Xi attended the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Vietnam's central city of Da Nang on Nov 10-11, and paid a state visit to the country in Hanoi on Sunday.
