Learn more at ted.com/tedx Javier plays his clarinet to show us how the human brain works when receiving musical simulation. He explains how music teaches us to learn and how it can help us enhance other aspects in our lives. Javier believes that music should be an instrument used to foster learning skills. He is also convinced that eliminating or reducing music time at schools is a bad choice if a comprehensive education wants to be achieved. Javier is a composer, director, clarinetist and professor. He has been awarded more than 20 different prizes, including the Gold and Bronze Medals at the Global Music Awards and official nominations in Hollywood Music in Media Awards and Jerry Goldsmith Awards, among others. He has been commissioned to compose works by different institutions around the world like the International Trumpet Guild, the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra, etc. He has been the clarinetist in the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra, the Spanish National Youth Orchestra (Joven Orquesta Nacional de España) or the Youth Orchestra of the Murcia's Region (Orquesta de Jóvenes de la Región de Murcia), among others. It is also noteworthy that he performed a concert as a soloist for Fifteen Minutes of Fame, New York. Today, he combines his artistic side with his pedagogical drive.
