It was a strange time because while on one hand you knew that the diagnosis was terminal from the beginning, it was easy to compartmentalise as the symptoms hadn’t really begun to infringe on her ability to lead a normal lifestyle yet. We would go out for coffee or dinner and have the most mundane conversations and then the next moment I’d be at home bawling my eyes out knowing that I wouldn’t get to do this for much longer.
